  Composition - Introduction

        Qualities of A Good Composition.

• Relevant : Stick to the topic throughout and avoid unnecessary details.

• Well-organised :  Make your material easy to understand. Organise your point well into sentences and paragraphs.

• Signposted : Link sentences, phases and words which help in understanding and maintaining the connection between sections.

• Cohesive :  Be consistent; and have no contradictions.

•  Concise :   Avoid unnecessary repetition and meaningless phases.

• Well-expressed :   The style of writing should be comprehensible with simple and clear expression .

             Structure of the Composition

1. Introduction . Getting the introduction in place is important because it is here that you lay the foundation for your composition.

An introduction should:

√ Demonstrate that the topic is understood.

√ State the proposition.

√ Outline key points of the topic.

√ Prepare the way ahead for composition.

2.Body.  It constitutes the main part of the essay. It is here  that the topic is development using paragraphs, is paragraph dealing with one distinct aspect of the subject.

Order of Narration 

✓ Order of importance. The common method is to to rank the points in order of important, either  starting from the least powerful and building mmomentum

up to the most compelling one, aur starting with the strongest point first for impact and then reinforcing it with other points.

✓ From broad to specific . It is  usual to provide and overview you are background information before going into detail.

✓ Chronological order . The history essay or a  past happening might discuss events and movements in Chronological sequence.

✓ Cause and effect. The argument of an essay might trce of causal chain: a series of events and the effects they produce.

✓ Comparison. A discussion comparing two different things might be based on a particular criteria.

3 . Conclusion. In the conclusion do not simply restate  the topic. It provides an opportunity to complete your case do make a final statement that leaves a lasting impression.

The conclusion should appear to be a logical development it of the topic. The last sentence should have a a rhythmic effect so as a produce a strong feeling that topic has finally come to a satisfactory natural end.

          Unity ,  Coherence  and  Variety

A good Composition is made up of effective paragraphs. The theme of the paragraph is often expressed in one sentence which has the paragraph. The topic sentence is built up or supported by relevant information explaining or amplifying the theme of the paragraph.

           The topic sentence tells the readers what your subject is and what you plan to say about it. Because it forecasts what the paragraph will say , it helps you decide what to include and exclude from the paragraph. To write a effective topic sentence, use the formula given below: 

Formula :   A topic sentence = a limited topic + a specific idea.

Example :   Science playes  a major  role and n man's life + especially in the field of communication.

      A paragraph is a small unit of thought, the ideas in it must be so arranged as to make their logical relation clear. Does every sentences should be linked to the one that goes before . There are four significant devices which help to maintain coherence in a paragraph, They are - pronouns , repetition , synonymous and linking words.

A good composition keep the interest of the reader alive. It contain a a variety of words , images , examples and sentences.

The overall unity among the paragraphs gives unity , cohesion and veriety to the whole composition.
